Man Fatally Shot During Party at Home
Investigators were seeking leads in the fatal shooting early Monday of an 18-year-old man at his home, authorities said.
Bernard Garcia Lopez Jr. died at Columbia West Anaheim Medical Center about an hour after the 1:37 a.m. shooting in the 7000 block of Joel Street, according to Orange County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Lt. Ron Wilkerson.
Investigators were treating the crime as gang-related, Wilkerson said.
Lopez was standing outside during a house party when two men approached, opened fire and then fled on foot, Wilkerson said. The men, wearing dark clothing, ran toward Santa Rosalia Street, he said. Lopez and several of his guests ran back into the house, where Lopez collapsed from at least one gunshot wound to the torso, Wilkerson said.
