Tuiolosega, Stovall Head All-Star Classic

Ocean View’s Jennifer Tuiolosega, The Times Orange County player of the year, and Erin Stovall, a former county standout, will lead a group of area basketball players Saturday against Los Angeles County players in the Ladies Summer All-Star Classic at Santa Ana College.

After three stellar seasons at Woodbridge, Stovall attended Honolulu Iolani School as a senior.

Tipoff is 7:30 p.m., and preceded by a National Junior Basketball all-star game at 5:30 p.m. Admission is $6 for adults, $4 for students and $3 for children. Kids wearing NJB jerseys will be admitted free.

Pitcher Mike Palumbo of Saddleback College and Brandon Reimer of Scottsdale (Ariz.) Community College have signed to play baseball at Concordia.

Palumbo, a right-hander who was 10-1 with a 3.60 earned-run average last season, was named first-team All-Orange Empire Conference and All-Southern California.

Reimer finished the season with a .315 average, with 10 doubles, 40 RBIs and five home runs.

Dick Johnson and Len Saputo will attempt to defend their singles’ titles in the U.S. men’s Hardcourt Championships, which begin Monday at the Lindborg Racquet Club in Huntington Beach.

Johnson won the 50-and-over title and Saputo the 55-and-over title last year. The tournament continues through July 20.

Among the competitors will be Dick Bohannon (Garden Grove), Dick Leach (Laguna Beach), Jim Nelson (Irvine) and Hank Leichtfried (Irvine).

Four players have been added to the South roster for Friday’s all-star prep football game at Orange Coast College.

Offensive linemen Jake Morrow of San Clemente and Mike Switzer of Trabuco Hills and linebackers Brock Amos of Mission Viejo and John Romm of Estancia were added.

They replace James Farley of Mater Dei, offensive linemen Brian Hart and Justin Speegle of Fountain Valley and Mike Buckingham of Edison.
