Westlake Gets Swept Away by Moorpark

Paz Olson-Pacheco pitched a three-hitter in the first game and Justin Ames had two hits and scored the game-winning run in the second to help Moorpark sweep Westlake, 8-1 and 4-3, in an American Legion District 16 baseball doubleheader at Moorpark College on Saturday.

Olson-Pacheco (6-0), struck out three and walked nine for Moorpark (12-12-1).

Tim McLain was three for three, including two doubles, scored twice and drove in a run for Moorpark in the first game, and Chris Stoddard had two doubles and three RBIs.

Ames was two for two with an RBI in the second game and teammate Willie Zavala had two hits and scored a run.

Moorpark’s Richie Cartier (1-1) allowed one hit, struck out five and walked two in five innings of relief after replacing starter Josh Hernandez.

Camarillo A 6-0, Royal 3-11--Brett Wayne (3-0) pitched a two-hitter and had two hits and three RBIs in the second game to help Royal gain a split in the doubleheader at Royal High.

Wayne struck out two and walked five in the game that was called after 4 1/2 innings because of the 10-run rule.

Bob Egan was three for three with four RBIs for Royal (16-6).

Jake Kor (5-0) pitched a five-hitter, struck out five and walked six for Camarillo A (20-4) in the first game.

Camarillo B 3-6, Newbury Park 1-1--Andy Alstot (3-5) pitched a two-hitter and struck out six in the first game, and Michael Tilford (3-5) pitched a five-hitter and struck out three in the second to help Camarillo B (11-16) sweep the doubleheader at Newbury Park High.
