Prep Football Update

A look at the Southern Section divisions in which Orange County’s large-school football teams compete (rankings are from Southern Section divisional polls):

DIVISION I

So much for showdowns: a meeting of the last two teams unbeaten in Moore League play resulted in a 72-7 victory for second-ranked Long Beach Poly over Lakewood. . . . There was a bit more drama in Fontana, where 10th-ranked Rialto Eisenhower took charge of the Citrus Belt race with a 10-3 victory over fifth-ranked Fontana. . . . Bellflower St. John Bosco, which lost to Mater Dei and Marina during a 1-4 start, all but clinched a playoff spot with a 17-3 Del Rey League victory over No. 6 Santa Fe Springs St. Paul.

CITRUS BELT

DIVISION V

Santa Margarita and Tustin, ranked Nos. 1 and 2, will play for league championships this week. Santa Margarita can clinch the Sea View League title with a victory over unbeaten Woodbridge, ranked No. 4, and Tustin can clinch a tie for the Golden West League championship if it can end Servite’s 18-game league winning streak.

CENTURY

Three leagues will pit unbeaten co-leaders against each other this week. . . .Third-ranked Costa Mesa and fifth-ranked Laguna Hills will meet for the Pacific Coast League title. . . . Top-ranked Rancho Alamitos completes its Garden Grove League schedule against No. 9 Los Amigos. . . . Fourth-ranked Covina can clinch the Valle Vista League title by defeating 10th-ranked Covina Northview.

FREEWAY
