Los Amigos Rallies in Second Half

Los Amigos woke up from a first-half fog to score 21 third-quarter points and cruise to a 28-14 Garden Grove League victory over host Garden Grove Thursday night.

Los Amigos (7-1-1, 5-1) used the combined rushing talents of Najja Kee and Levertis Riley, who combined for 253 yards.

Kee, who rushed for 145 yards in 17 carries, scored the Lobos’ only touchdown in the first half on a six-yard run midway through the first quarter. Riley, who rushed for 108 yards in 15 carries, scored Los Amigos’ first of three second-half touchdowns on a one-yard run with 7 minutes 20 seconds left in the third quarter.

Garden Grove (3-6-1, 2-3-1) played well in the first half, tying the score, 7-7, on a 34-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Rick Welty to tight end Brandon Jones with 7:33 left in the half.

Garden Grove tied the score in the third quarter on a 22-yard pass from Welty to wide receiver Ulysses Linares with 4:56 left.

Los Amigos, which finished second in league, took the lead, 21-14, on a nine-yard run by Andrew Niumata late in the third quarter.

Garden Grove fumbled on its next possession and the Lobos scored on their first play on a 10-yard run by Ao Sualua to take a 28-14 lead.
