Playoff Tennis Matches Are Rained Out

Most of the girls’ tennis matches scheduled Thursday in the first round of the Southern Section playoffs were postponed because of rain and have been rescheduled for today.

All but two of the 23 matches involving county teams will begin today at 2 p.m. at the original host school. The Sunny Hills at Cerritos match in Division II will begin at 1 p.m. and the Twentynine Palms at Orange Lutheran in Division V will begin at 1:30.

Second-round matches are scheduled for Saturday.

The Southern Section cross-country preliminaries at Mt. San Antonio College will take place Saturday, rain or shine.

If there is rain, the races will be moved to the college’s rain course, according to a section official. The section will decide at 1 p.m. today which course will be used.

The day’s first race is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m.

Two Victory League football games originally scheduled for Saturday have been changed.

Heritage Christian’s football game against Los Angeles Ribet Academy will be played at 7:30 tonight, at Cerritos Valley Christian.

Capistrano Valley Christian’s game against Bloomington Christian will be played at 7 tonight at Laguna Beach High.

Woodbridge has hired David Coleman as its wrestling coach. Coleman, a Woodbridge graduate, also is an assistant football coach at the school. He replaces Fred Morgan, who resigned last week.
