Brown, Foss Lead Chapman Women

Chapman had little trouble with visiting MacMurray (Ill.), winning, 90-69, in a women’s basketball game Friday at Chapman.

The Panthers were led by Lyndsay Brown, who had 26 points. Lindsay Foss had 17 for Chapman, which had a 22-point lead at the end of the first half.

Holly Wachtel scored 16 points for MacMurray.

In anther nonconference women’s games:

Southern California College 98, Patten 49--Kristi Wright had 24 points for SCC. Traci Bell had 21 points for the Vanguards.

Adrianne Grayson had 18 and Sara Herkenhoff scored 15. SCC is 2-0.

In nonconference men’s basketball:

Western Montana 90, Southern California College 72--SCC’s Terence Wilborn scored 24 points and had 14 rebounds in the loss.

Western Montana had four players score in double figures, led by Jake Gustafson with 26 points.

In quarterfinals of the Big West Conference women’s volleyball tournament:

Long Beach State 3, New Mexico State 0--Veronica Walls led the 49ers with nine kills in the 15-3, 15-3, 15-1 victory.

Former Newport Harbor standout Misty May had 32 assists, Jenn Snyder had nine digs. Long Beach State improves to 26-1.
