Charles Jones scored a school-record 53 points and Long Island beat Division III Medgar Evers, 179-62, at New York, breaking the NCAA record for margin of victory.

The 117-point difference eclipsed the mark of 97 set by Southern in a 154-57 victory over Patten on Nov. 26, 1993.

The NCAA record for most points in a game is 186 by Loyola Marymount in 1991.

Jones, the leading scorer in Division I last season, made 21 of 27 shots as the Blackbirds set an NCAA record by making 76 field goals. LIU also set a record with 39 steals.
