A Sacramento County man shot and killed his wife and then himself Thursday while their two small children were sleeping, officials said.

Sheriff’s investigators said 8-year-old Anthony Moreno called 911 after he heard the shots and discovered the bodies of his father, Tony Moreno, 31, and mother, Toni, 26, in the bedroom of their Antelope home.

The boy and his 2-year-old sister were unharmed and were placed in the care of relatives.

“I think my dad shot my mom,” the boy told sheriff’s 911 dispatchers early Thursday morning after he went to investigate the gunshots he had just heard. “And I think my dad is passed out.”

It was the second murder-suicide in as many days in a Sacramento-area home in which children were present.

Less than 24 hours earlier, Sacramento police were called to a home in the Pocket area where they found the bodies of Curtis Ng, 42, and Brittany Aardahl, 24, who apparently were two more casualties of domestic violence.

Investigators have not yet determined which partner killed the other. Their 1-year-old child was crying in his crib when firefighters found him. Aardahl’s 4-year-old daughter had been picked up by her father Tuesday night.
