Alemany Leaves Crespi in Wake, 7-6

Brian Peterson’s goal with two minutes remaining lifted Alemany high to a 7-6 water polo victory over Crespi in a Mission League game Wednesday at Alemany.

The Indians fell behind, 5-4, after one quarter, but goalie Jeff Downey, who had 10 saves, held the Celts to one goal the rest of the game. Peterson had five goals.

Harvard-Westlake 21, Notre Dame 6--Brian Ault scored five goals and Dan Herr added three for the Wolverines (10-0, 1-0 in league play) in a Mission League game at Notre Dame.

Jon Horwitz had three goals for Notre Dame (15-4, 0-1).

Royal 20, Thousand Oaks 6--The Highlanders (12-3) took an 8-0 lead and cruised in a Marmonte League opener at Thousand Oaks High.

David Radka and Jason Perry each scored seven goals for Royal.

Garrett Herzer had 16 saves for Royal.

Agoura 16, Westlake 5--Eugene Lai had five goals for the Chargers (13-4, 1-0) and Elliot Hirsch and Hans Larsen each added three in a Marmonte League game at Agoura.

Nordhoff 21, Villanova Prep 0--Justin Jewell scored seven goals for the Rangers (7-4, 2-0) in a Frontier League match at Nordhoff.

BOYS’ CROSS-COUNTRY

Notre Dame 24, St. Francis 33--Kevin Lelles finished first in 16:31 to help the Knights win the Mission League boys’ meet at Crescenta Valley Park.

Chaminade 22, Crespi 33; Loyola 15, Chaminade 49; Loyola 15, Crespi 50--Udi Vermesch of Chaminade finished seventh in 17:20 with two teammates close behind to give the Eagles (1-2, 1-2) their first dual meet victory in four years.

GIRLS’ TENNIS

Harvard-Westlake 18, Notre Dame 0--No. 1 singles player Marissa Irvin and the No. 1 doubles team of Leila Nasseri and Chelsea Dillon each won three sets by 6-0 scores for the Wolverines (6-2, 4-0) in a Mission League match at Studio City Golf and Tennis Center.

Notre Dame won only 17 games, six in singles.
