In other nonleague games:

Trona 33, Vasquez 7--Sophomore Wes Anderson rushed 22 times for 110 yards and Bobby Key had a two-yard touchdown to open the scoring in the first quarter for the Mustangs (1-4) at Trona (4-1).

Highland 14, Ridgecrest Burroughs 9--The Bulldogs (3-2) rallied for 14 second-half points to pull out the win at Burroughs (2-3).

After a sluggish first half, Highland quarterback Camy Smith scored the winning touchdown on an eight-yard run around left end on a broken play with 1:48 remaining. The Bulldog touchdown was set up by a 15-yard roughing-the-passer penalty against the Burros.

After completing only two passes in the first half, Smith finished 10-for-22 for 91 yards with two interceptions and an eight-yard touchdown pass to Brian Floyd with 32 seconds remaining in the third quarter.

A 25 MPH wind affected the kickers as Chris Peters missed field goals of 50 and 26 yards the first half for Burroughs and Highland kicker Derek Brown missed a 37-yard attempt in the first quarter.

Pete Greedy rushed 26 times for 106 yards, including a three-yard touchdown, and the Burros also added two points when Smith fumbled and recovered in his own end zone with 2:57 left in the first half.
