Cathedral 52, Bell-Jeff 6--The Phantoms (4-1, 2-0) needed just 19 offensive plays to roll up 520 yards and seven touchdowns in a Santa Fe League game at Burroughs High.
Chris Hanks rushed for 288 yards and five touchdowns in eight carries, scoring on runs of 60, one, 62, 54 and 70 yards.
Armand Moore added 172 yards and two touchdowns in five carries for Cathedral, which did not attempt a pass. He scored on runs of 71 and 62 yards.
Quarterback Tim Cornier scored the Guards’ lone touchdown on an 88-yard bootleg with 9:20 remaining in the game.
Chris Omoto had 56 yards in 21 carries for Bell-Jeff (1-4, 1-1).
Bell-Jeff did not complete a pass and was held to 163 yards.
At the request of both head coaches, the referees employed a running clock at the start of the second half, with Cathedral leading, 40-0.
