Westlake 36, Channel Islands 0--The Warrior tandem of Zac Wasserman and Joey Cuppari combined for three scores at Channel Islands. Wasserman completed 14 of 24 passes for 147 yards and Cuppari caught nine for 103 yards.
Wasserman, a sophomore, connected with Cuppari on an 11-yard scoring play on the Warriors’ first possession. Cuppari added a five-yard touchdown reception late in the first half, and caught a two-point conversion pass to give Westlake (4-2, 3-0) a 22-0 lead at halftime.
Wasserman tossed a five-yard touchdown pass to Cuppari on the Warriors’ first possession of the third quarter. Mike Seidman caught six passes for 76 yards.
Wasserman was replaced in the third quarter by B.J. Brannan, who completed eight of 11 for 76 yards.
Channel Islands (1-5, 1-2), which played without leading rusher Ray Carmel (concussion), was outgained, 366-96.
