Antelope Valley Feasts on Desert Turnovers, 28-3

LANCASTER — Antelope Valley College converted four turnovers into touchdowns and blocked a punt for a safety in a 28-3 Foothill Conference victory over Desert on Saturday night at Antelope Valley College.
Lafayette Bailey rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns in 17 carries for the Marauders.
After Jesse Clark recovered a fumbled pitchout by quarterback Maurice Scott of Desert (0-6, 0-4 in conference play), Bailey scored on a four-yard run to cap a five-play, 47-yard drive and give Antelope Valley (3-2, 2-1) a 7-3 lead midway through the second quarter.
Scott fumbled a snap on the Roadrunners’ next possession, and Chris Castillo recovered for the Marauders at the Desert five-yard line. Bailey’s five-yard run gave Antelope Valley a 14-3 lead.
Antelope Valley added the safety early in the third quarter when Kenneth Grieco blocked a punt at the Roadrunner goal line, and the ball rolled through the end zone.
Kenyatta Dawson scored two touchdowns in the third quarter for Antelope Valley, a four-yard run set up by Marcus Prevost’s 67-yard interception return, and a one-yard run.
Michael Gleich of Antelope Valley completed five of nine passes for 80 yards.
