JetHawks Swept From Playoffs by High Desert
LANCASTER — The first appearance by the Lancaster JetHawks in the postseason ended with a thud as the High Desert Mavericks registered a 12-9 victory on Sunday at the Hangar to sweep the California League semifinal series, three games to none.
Poor fielding and a lack of hitting hurt the JetHawks again before a crowd of 3,510. High Desert batted around in the first inning after Jason Regan and Tarrik Brock committed errors.
Lancaster made four errors which led to five unearned runs.
JetHawk starter Joe Victery lasted only one inning. High Desert rocked the right-hander for seven hits and three earned runs.
The JetHawks trailed, 12-2, after three innings. Jim Horner hit a three-run home run in the seventh.
In three games the JetHawks were outscored, 35-11.
