Eagles Stay Unbeaten
Mike MacKenzie scored two touchdowns and ran for 172 yards in 22 carries to lead Eastern Washington over Weber State, 35-11, in a Big Sky Conference football game Saturday night at Cheney, Wash.
Following a scoreless first quarter, Eastern Washington scored 21 unanswered points in the second quarter. Harry Leons connected with Steve Correa for touchdown passes of 24 and 25 yards. MacKenzie scored on an 11-yard run.
In other Big Sky games:
Montana State 14, Idaho State 13--Rob Compson ran for one touchdown and passed for another, and Montana State overcame a 10-7 halftime deficit at Pocatello, Idaho.
Compson ran for a one-yard touchdown to give the Bobcats a 7-0 lead in the first quarter. His six-yard scoring pass to Craig Galle with 3:54 left in the third quarter proved the game-winner.
Northern Arizona 56, Portland State 21--Travis Brown passed for 357 yards and five touchdowns for the Lumberjacks at Flagstaff, Ariz.
Gibbons St. Paul and Kino Carson also contributed to an offense that rolled up 561 yards. Carson rushed for 117 yards and two touchdowns and St. Paul caught 13 passes for 167 yards and three touchdowns.
Montana 52, Cal State Sacramento 10--Josh Branen scored four touchdowns and rushed for 187 yards for the Bobcats at Missoula, Mont.
