Calabasas Golfers Are Too Much, Even Without Their Ace

Despite the absence of its best player, and a hole in one by Billy Stack of Newbury Park High, Calabasas shot a 386 on Friday to defeat Newbury Park and Thousand Oaks at Los Robles Golf Course in Thousand Oaks.

Newbury Park scored 410, Thousand Oaks 460.

Aaron Levine of Calabasas (8-0) shot a five-over-par 74. Matt Levy and Justin Ohye each shot 76.

Jon Ohye was sidelined because of an injured wrist.

Stack, who shot a 69, recorded an ace on the 212-yard ninth hole. Teammate Jon Konfar shot 74.

BOYS’ TENNIS

Westlake 14, Newbury Park 4--No. 1 Narbe Zohrabi and No. 2 Mike Horak each won three singles sets for the Warriors in a Marmonte League victory at North Ranch Tennis Club.

Westlake (9-0, 8-0), the top-ranked team in the Southern Section Division II, won six of nine doubles sets as the No. 1 team of Brad Wong and Albert Kim and the No. 2 team of Billy Corso and Jeff Agase swept.

Brentwood 11, Campbell Hall 7--Adam Zunder won two of three sets at No. 1 singles and Justin Castillo and Nick Nadjarian won two of three sets at No. 2 doubles but the Vikings (10-2, 2-1) lost to Brentwood (9-0, 3-0) in a Delphic League match at Studio City Racquet Centre.

El Camino Real 7, Chatsworth 0--Manish and Bobby Narayan won their singles matches in straight sets for the Conquistadores in a Northwest Valley Conference victory at Chatsworth.

Simon Chan and Michael Kim, at No. 2 doubles, won the only set for Chatsworth (4-7, 2-6).

Harvard-Westlake 15, Santa Barbara 3--Andrew Rosenfeld won three sets for the Wolverines (9-2) in a victory at Harvard-Westlake.

BOYS’ TRACK

Kennedy 73, Granada Hills 41--Micah Arnold and Jesus Zamora each won four events for the Golden Cougars (2-2, 2-2) in a Northwest Valley Conference victory at Kennedy.

Arnold won both hurdles, the triple jump and ran on the 400 relay.

Zamora won the 200 and 800 meters and ran on both relays.

Sylmar 78, Grant 47--Ines Tolentino and Andre Gallegos each won two individual events for the Spartans (3-3, 3-3) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference victory at Sylmar.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Sylmar d. Grant, 15-11, 15-4, 15-8--Cesar Chavez had 12 kills and 10 digs for the Spartans in a Valley Pac-8 Conference victory at Grant.

Ervin Gonzalez had 10 kills, four aces and four blocks, and Mario Moran added 11 kills and four blocks for Sylmar (6-4, 4-3).

Monroe d. Canoga Park, 15-12, 14-16, 13-15, 15-4, 15-6--Hugo Cabades had 18 kills and five blocks, and Raymund Goler had 11 kills and 10 blocks for the Vikings (7-3, 6-1) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference victory at Canoga Park.

Greg Damien had 28 kills and 22 digs for Canoga Park (6-4, 3-4).

Quartz Hill d. Lancaster, 15-6, 15-10, 15-4--Bryan Gragg had 11 kills for the Rebels (8-1, 4-0) in a Golden League victory.

Antelope Valley d. Highland, 15-4, 15-11, 13-15, 15-13--Billy Blair had 26 kills and 11 blocks and Ryan Gillan added 23 kills for the Antelopes (6-2, 2-2) in a Golden League victory at Antelope Valley.

Jared Corpening had 18 kills for Highland (4-4, 1-3).

Littlerock d. Palmdale, 15-11, 11-15, 15-12, 15-9--Chris Gorny had 22 kills and 26 digs for the Littlerock (9-1, 5-0) in a Golden League match at Palmdale.

Myles Meeden had 57 assists, 17 digs and six aces for the Lobos. Marc Mailander contributed 14 kills and 13 digs.
