Officer’s Hunch Leads Police to Burglary Suspect

Share

A Pomona police officer who played a hunch caught a burglar Monday and recovered several thousand dollars worth of jewelry taken from the home of two senior citizens.

A witness saw Chez Trancell Suitley, 19, go into the backyard of a home in the 1300 block of East Alvarado Street about 9:45 a.m. and notified police, said Officer Steve Prentice.

Suitley was carrying a black bag out of the residence owned by a couple, both 78, when officers arrived. But he managed to evade the police, Prentice said.

However, Prentice knew of an apartment building in the 1300 block of Abbey Lane where burglary suspects have gone in the past. Police went there and made the arrest.
