Hart’s Friedrichsen Ties Mark With 3 Homers, 10 RBIs

Matt Friedrichsen tied two school single-game records by hitting three home runs and driving in 10 runs in 4 1/2 innings in Hart High’s 17-2 Foothill League baseball victory Tuesday over Burbank at Hart.

Friedrichsen, who had not hit a home run this season, slugged a grand slam and a three-run shot in an 11-run third inning that saw 14 batters come to the plate. He has 13 RBIs in 12 at-bats this year.

Tim Hutting had three hits, including two doubles, and knocked in three runs for Hart (17-2, 6-2), ranked No. 2 in the region by The Times.

Justin Wiley (3-0) scattered five hits, struck out five and allowed no earned runs.

In other games:

Saugus 8, Canyon 0--Justin Babin threw a one-hitter with 12 strikeouts for the Centurions (7-11, 4-4) in a Foothill League victory at Canyon.

Babin (3-5) surrendered only a leadoff single in the third inning to Mike Kennedy. He walked three.

Saugus also got three hits and three RBI by Brad Ritter, who hit a two-run home run in the seventh.

Burroughs 6, Valencia 3--Jeremy Cartee had three hits, including a solo home run in the fifth inning for the Indians in a Foothill League victory at Burroughs.

Tony Sandoval gave up three hits and three walks with six strikeouts in five-plus innings for Burroughs (10-8, 5-2).

Rio Mesa 6, Ventura 4--Greg Ramirez (6-1) pitched a six-hitter, struck out eight, allowed one earned run and hit a home run for the Spartans in a Channel League victory at Rio Mesa. (14-4, 6-1).

Hueneme 8, San Marcos 4--Mike Serrata drove in three runs with three hits, and Rigo Garcia had two run-scoring doubles for the Vikings in a Channel League victory at Hueneme (12-6, 4-2).

St. Francis 13, Notre Dame 7--Jim Hemming had three hits, four RBIs and hit a three-run home run for St. Francis in a Mission League game at Bookside Park.

Andy Lopez and Peter Glynn also had three hits for St. Francis (7-4-1, 4-3), which finished with 19.

Harvard-Westlake 9, Alemany 5--Kyle Beswick had three hits, including a run-scoring triple, and Adam Siegel drove in four runs for Harvard-Westlake (10-8, 2-3) in a Mission League game at Franklin Field.

Siegel had two hits, including a three-run homer in the third inning that gave Harvard-Westlake a 6-0 lead.

Dos Pueblos 6, Oxnard 3--Eric Swanger had three hits, including a run-scoring double, for Oxnard (6-5-1, 0-3-1) in a Channel League game at Dos Pueblos.

Buena 8, Santa Barbara 6--Mike Frick had two home runs and recorded the final out to notch his second save in a Channel League game at Buena.

Fillmore 3, Bishop Diego 2--Isaac Oseguera scored from third base on a wild pitch in the bottom of the sixth inning to give Fillmore (10-2, 6-0) a Tri-Valley League victory.

Paraclete 18, Desert 0--Jason Brown had a three-run home run and a run-scoring double for Paraclete (13-0, 3-0) in a High Desert League game at Desert.

Moorpark 5, Santa Paula 2--Chris Stoddard had two hits, including a two-run double, for host Moorpark (12-5, 6-2) in a Frontier League game.

Jim Oxford (3-1) struck out nine in six-plus innings, allowing four hits and two runs.

El Camino Real 12, Taft 2--Mike Leduc drove in four runs and Kurt Birkins struck out eight and walked two in a six-inning West Valley League game at El Camino Real.

Woody Cliffords had three hits, including a two-run home run in the sixth, and drove in three runs for El Camino Real (10-6, 8-1). Leduc had two doubles and a sacrifice fly.

Chatsworth 9, Birmingham 1--Matt Cassel’s two-run home run highlighted a seven-run third inning for the top-ranked Chancellors in a West Valley League game at Birmingham. Mike Kunes had a four-hitter for Chatsworth (19-2, 8-1).

Cleveland 11, Granada Hills 6--Max Santillan had three hits, including a triple, scored two runs and drove in two, and the Cavaliers (11-5, 5-4) built a 8-0 lead after three innings and coasted to a North Valley League victory at Cleveland.

Kennedy 12, San Fernando 2--The first three hitters for the Golden Cougars (17-5, 6-3)--Marcus Alvarado, Manny Bernal and Jack Cassel--each had three hits in a six-inning North Valley League victory.
