Public’s Input Sought on Senior Center Plan

Share

The City Council will hear public comment tonight on a plan to fund an expansion of the city’s Senior Center.

In 1993, officials allocated $75,000 to the Asian American Senior Citizens Assn. to build a senior center. Two years later, $50,000 in federal grant money was also earmarked for the project. But the association was unsuccessful in developing the project and has agreed to give the money back to the city, officials said. About $8,000 has been spent on a survey.

The proposal, which will be considered by the City Council tonight, would give the remaining funds, $117,000, to the Westminster Senior Center for an expansion project.
