Season at a glance: Lucious, a 6-foot-1, 215-pound wide receiver, leads City Section receivers in the region with 13 touchdown catches. He has 35 receptions for 707 yards. He also plays defensive back for Van Nuys (9-3), which plays Chatsworth in a City Division semifinal Friday night at Birmingham High.

Week at a glance: Lucious caught four touchdown passes from quarterback Bobby Hernandez, including a 14-yarder with 1:53 remaining to give Van Nuys a 26-24 quarterfinal victory over Eagle Rock. He finished with six receptions for 152 yards. His other touchdowns covered 55, 37 and 30 yards.

SEASON AT A GLANCE: Fleshman has stamped herself as one of the top five runners in the nation by winning 11 of 12 races, including her first Division I titles in the Southern Section and state championships.

WEEK AT AT GLANCE: Fleshman became Canyon’s first individual state champion Saturday when she clocked 17:38 over the 5,000-meter course at Woodward Park in Fresno. Her time improved her previous best at Woodward Park by 13 seconds and gave her a 10-second margin of victory over Trina Cox of Santa Rosa, who beat Fleshman for the state title last year. “I wanted [a state title] more than anything I’ve ever wanted before,” she said.
