Cal Lutheran Women Rally to Stay Perfect

Valery Brady scored 19 of her game-high 27 points in the second half and the Cal Lutheran women’s basketball team improved to 5-0 by rallying for a 76-71 nonconference victory Friday night over The Master’s College at Cal Lutheran.

Brady scored seven points during a 17-2 run that pulled the Regals to within 36-34 at the half. Brady was the only Cal Lutheran player to score in double figures.

Anna Lindseth, Haley Jones and Missy Rider each scored nine points for the Regals.

Elizabeth Hansell had 17 points and Karen Gormley had 12 points for Master’s (6-3).

In other women’s games:

Pierce 84, Mt. San Jacinto 48--Stephanie Taylor had 21 points and Cheryl Flores added 16 points, nine assists and eight steals for the Brahmas (4-2) in a nonconference victory at Mt. San Jacinto.

Ventura 50, Sequoias 42--Renae Hofmann scored 11 of her 16 points in the second half and Ventura (9-2) scored the last eight points to break a 42-42 tie and win a quarterfinal game in the Sequoias tournament.

MEN’S

Canyons 82, Moorpark 67--Anthony Ellison led Canyons with 31 points and seven rebounds, and the Cougars rallied from a 40-29 halftime deficit in a consolation semifinal of the Antelope Valley tournament.

Ron Slater had 24 points and five rebounds for Canyons (4-5). Ellison and Slater were a combined 24 of 31 shooting.

Alan Case had 22 points and Joey Wilrodt had 17 for Moorpark (6-3).
