Cypress’ Specht Named All-American in Soccer

Midfielder Jane Specht of Cypress College was selected as a first-team All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Assn. of America. Specht, from Cypress High, scored 24 goals as the Chargers won the state title.

Missy Peterson of Mater Dei has made an oral commitment to attend and play softball for Providence, according to her mother, Karen.

She said her daughter will sign a letter of intent in April.

Peterson, a pitcher, underwent surgery to both knees in October, 1997, and did not play last season.
