Mark Saukkola
Santa Ana, Sophomore
Basketball
Saukkola, from Villa Park High, made the two most important free throws of the season for Santa Ana Wednesday. His two foul shots put Santa Ana ahead by five points with 14 seconds left as the Dons beat Fullerton, 74-69, to clinch the Orange Empire Conference title. He finished with 11 points. He scored 22 Friday when the Dons beat Cypress. He is averaging 14.5 points and has 91 three-pointers.

* Cypress, sophomore. Had 19 rebounds against Santa Ana to set the Cypress career record at 612.
Paola Flores
Fullerton, Sophomore
Basketball
Flores, from Loara High, is the most creative shooter in the Orange Empire Conference. She is at her best when off-balance or driving to the basket. Flores scored 29 points as the Hornets beat Santa Ana, 86-70, to clinch a share of the conference title Wednesday. She also scored 18 and had 11 rebounds in Fullerton’s last-second, 63-62, loss to Orange Coast. She averaged 17 points and eight rebounds in the regular season.

* Cypress, sophomore. She scored 13 points in each of the Chargers’ two victories.
