Buena Makes Dos Pueblos No. 45

The beat goes on at Buena High, where the Bulldogs continue to beat up on Channel League girls’ basketball opponents.

The defending Southern Section Division I-A champions routed Dos Pueblos, 49-26, on Saturday at Dos Pueblos in the league opener, the Bulldogs’ 45th consecutive victory in Channel League play.

The game wasn’t a rout all the way. Buena led, 16-10, at halftime before going on a 33-16 run after intermission.

Renae Hofmann scored 14 points for Buena (9-1), ranked No. 2 in the region by The Times.

Sarah Estrada scored 10 points for Dos Pueblos.

Harvard-Westlake 57, Los Altos 42--L’Tanya Robnett scored 17 points for the Wolverines in the seventh-place game of the Best of the West tournament in Chino.

Brooke Porter added 15 points, and Omelogo Udeze had 11 points and seven rebounds for Harvard-Westlake (12-4).

Ventura 56, Oxnard 43--Alex Gientke had 14 points and six rebounds, and Kristine Gleisberg added 10 points for the Cougars (6-3) in a Channel League opener at Oxnard.

Tina Samaniego scored 12 points for the Yellowjackets (2-9).

Moorpark 57, Newbury Park 48--Damaris Hinojosa had 23 points and 11 rebounds, and the Musketeers pulled away in the fourth quarter at Newbury Park.

Nadine Levsey scored 13 points and Oli Keohohou added 11 for the Panthers (5-6).

BOYS

Malibu 63, Notre Dame 61--Tyson Dexter scored a tiebreaking layup with 20 seconds left for the Sharks (4-5) at Malibu.

Ian Fishburn scored 22 points for Malibu.

Chris Williams had 15 points and 12 rebounds for Notre Dame (7-6), which led by 14 points with four minutes left.

Santa Clara 60, Oak Park 39--Ryan McGill had 16 points and six steals for the Saints (6-6) at Santa Clara.

Scott Sorich added 13 points for Santa Clara.

John Murphy scored 10 for Oak Park.
