Jason Collins Might Take a Redshirt Year

Share

Stanford freshman Jason Collins, who helped lead Harvard-Westlake to the state Division III boys’ basketball title last season, probably will use a redshirt year to fully recover from arthroscopic surgery on his right knee.

The seventh-ranked Cardinal (16-0) had been optimistic that the 6-foot-10 Collins would be able to return to the team this season, but his recovery has been slowed by a cyst on the right knee.

Collins’ twin, Jarron, has been a key reserve for Stanford. The Collinses were The Times’ Valley co-players of the year last season.
