Yingling, Ramirez County’s Best

Joe Yingling of Camarillo High was selected player of the year and Greg Ramirez of Rio Mesa was selected pitcher of the year among large schools by the Ventura County Baseball Coaches Assn.
Yingling, a senior catcher and pitcher who was Marmonte League player of the year, batted .524 with eight home runs and 43 runs batted in. Ramirez, a junior, had an 8-2 record.
Dynamic duo: Pitcher Ivan Hernandez of Sylmar and second baseman Ismael Rangsiyawong of North Hollywood, both seniors, have been selected East Valley League co-players of the year.
Sharing: Seniors Jack Cassel and Tim Arroyo of Kennedy High were selected co-most valuable players of the North Valley League.
Cassel batted .452 and had an 8-4 pitching record. Arroyo, a first baseman, batted .467.
League leader: Senior pitcher-first baseman John Ennis of Monroe High was selected Mid-Valley League player of the year.
The UCLA-bound Ennis was 9-3 with a 1.30 earned-run average, and batted .390 with 20 RBIs.
SOFTBALL
High-class: Alena Valdez of Paraclete High was selected High Desert League player of the year.
Valdez batted .356 and had 18 RBIs.
