The Seahawks were placed in this division a week before the regular season ended after they submitted new enrollment figures to the Southern Section and they may be a bit much for Barstow, which is making its first appearance in a section final since it beat Santa Barbara Catholic, 57-46, in 1953. With a front line that averages 6 feet 5, Ocean View has put together a 14-game winning streak that includes three playoff victories by an average of 18 points. Senior Kevin Hanson, a 6-10 center, is hard to stop. His only problem has been consistency around the basket. But his shot-blocking ability can force opponents further away from the basket. Barstow isn’t afraid to take three-point shots and may have to duplicate its nine three-pointers in a 64-61 semifinal victory over La Canada to stay close. The Aztecs won two of their three playoff games by three points.
