Joe Nargi was hurt, but his team wasn’t.

Nargi, a standout 6-foot-5 opposite hitter for Taft High, sprained his right ankle, but the Toreadors were able to defeat Monroe, 15-5, 15-5, 15-11, in a boys’ volleyball nonconference match Tuesday at Monroe.

Nargi, who finished with 19 kills, was injured in the third game and might not be available next Tuesday for Taft (3-0) in an important Northwest Valley Conference opener at Kennedy.

Outside hitters Elan Yackovee (20 kills) and Tomer Foruzman (14 kills) supplied the offense for Taft.
