Davidson Double-Checks El Dorado and Hart Sweeps

Andy Davidson won both games, allowing two hits and one run in 4 1/3 innings of relief, and the Hart High baseball team swept a doubleheader from El Dorado, 10-5 and 9-8, on Saturday at Hart.

Ryan Haig singled home Chris Wright with one out in the seventh inning to win the second game for the Indians (9-0).

Wright was seven for seven and drove in five runs for Hart.

Davidson (5-0), who leads the region in victories, didn’t give up a hit in 2 2/3 innings in the first game.

In other baseball games:

Palmdale 11-15, Saugus 2-3--The Falcons (5-2) hit nine home runs, three each by Jason Gorman and Grant Livermont, in sweeping the Centurions at Saugus.

Gorman finished with eight runs batted in and Livermont had seven.

Paraclete 17, Cantwell-Sacred Heart 3--Sophomore Rob Fockeart was four for four with two doubles and two triples, scored four runs and had four RBIs for the Spirits (7-0) in the L.A. Baptist tournament.

Monroe 5, Chadwick 2--Vince Vargas hit a two-run home run for the Vikings in a Redondo Union tournament victory at Chadwick.

Adam Kaplan and John Mort each had a double and a single for Monroe (5-2-1).

Quartz Hill 7, Granada Hills 5--Ryan West hit his fifth home run and a double to drive in two runs and help the Rebels (6-1) win a San Fernando Valley Invitational game at Granada Hills.

SOFTBALL

Simi Valley 6, Righetti 2--Tracie Hall had two hits, drove in two runs and scored twice to help the Pioneers (5-0) win the championship game of the Simi Valley tournament.

Tournament most valuable player Lori Tande (3-0) pitched six innings in relief of starter Brittney Green, who developed a sore arm after one inning.

Tande allowed seven hits and one earned run, striking out five and walking one.

La Reina 1, Dos Pueblos 0--Kristen Ward (4-0) pitched a three-hitter and Stephanie Hall scored on an error in the fourth inning for the Regents (8-1) in the third-place game of the Simi Valley tournament at Rancho Simi Park.

Kennedy 5, Royal 4--Patty Del Real had three hits and two RBIs, and Carin Garcia added two hits and two RBIs for the Golden Cougars (7-2), who won the 11th-place game in the Simi Valley tournament at Rancho Simi Park.

Santa Fe 3, Newbury Park 1--Oli Keohohou hit a home run and Katie Stokx (1-1) pitched a two-hitter but the Panthers (3-1) lost a semifinal game in the Downey tournament at South Gate Community Park.

Burroughs 4, Agoura 1--Maria Sullivan (4-1) pitched a one-hitter and had three hits to help the Indians (8-2) win a consolation game of the Simi Valley tournament at Rancho Simi Park.

Highland 3-9, Paraclete 2-2--Jennifer Smith had three hits and four RBIs for the Bulldogs (7-0) at Jane Reynolds Park.

Kelly Presten (3-0) pitched a two-hitter in the second game.

Thousand Oaks 6-12, Glendale 0-0--Lancer freshman Nicole Angelo (1-1) pitched a one-hitter in the first game at Glendale (1-6).

St. Paul 2, Crescenta Valley 0--Becca Baldridge and Heidi Huchthausen each had two hits for the Falcons (5-1) in a semifinal loss in the Downey tournament at South Gate Park.
