Wade (3-5), whose sophomore season ended prematurely because of a broken elbow, allowed only a third-inning single by Bryan Gant and a fourth-inning triple by Matt Fisher.

“I just kept them off balance and that made the difference,” Wade said.

Taft (10-13, 7-7 in league play) scored twice in the first inning against Ismael Marin, who pitched a one-hitter. Wade singled home a run and K.C. Bounds scored on a fielder’s choice.
