A 62-year-old Van Nuys woman was struck by a pickup truck and killed early Friday morning as she stood on the sidewalk at an intersection, authorities said.

Paula Cornejo was struck about 7:30 a.m. after the pickup spun out of control after colliding with another truck at the intersection of Victory Boulevard and Platt Avenue, said Los Angeles Police Officer Dan Henry.

The driver of the truck that struck Cornejo, Gavin Bible, failed to yield at the intersection, Henry said. The case will be referred to the city attorney’s office to determine if Bible will face criminal charges.

Cornejo, a housekeeper, was standing on the corner waiting for her employer to pick her up for work, Henry said.
