What is the region’s No. 1 high school softball team?

The answer should be provided today in the Southern Section Division I quarterfinal game between Camarillo (20-5) and host Highland (24-5).

Camarillo is the region’s top-ranked team by The Times. Highland is No. 5 and has already knocked off No. 2 Simi Valley, 3-2, and No. 6 Crescenta Valley, 4-0, in the first two playoff rounds.

In Division II, Quartz Hill (21-3-2) will travel to No. 2-seeded Santa Maria Righetti (28-4). In Division IV, Harvard-Westlake (16-12) will face Alemany (18-10) at Valley College and Chaminade (21-7-1) hosts Bishop at Chaminade Middle School.

In Division V, Paraclete (20-5-2) hosts top-seeded Pomona Catholic at Jane Reynolds Park in Lancaster at 1:30 p.m, and Cornerstone Christian plays Grace Brethren at Freedom Park in Camarillo in Division VI.

All games, with the exception of Paraclete’s, begin at 3:15 p.m.
