Mission Viejo picked up a forfeit victory from Santa Fe Springs St. Paul, but the Diablos will need victories this week and next if they are going to make the playoffs. San Clemente has played ranked teams well--beating No. 5 Santa Margarita, tying No. 9 Trabuco Hills last week and losing 28-14 to second-ranked Mater Dei. The Tritons might be without halfback James Allen, who injured his thumb last week. Sophomore quarterback Dan Coviello had his best game of the season last week. If Allen can’t play, Coviello might need another big game.
