* Story line: In their most recent Monday night appearance last month at Green Bay, the Packers had their 25-game home winning streak ended by the Minnesota Vikings in a 37-24 loss. Coming off an impressive 36-22 victory over the San Francisco 49ers, they seem primed for a better effort. To make that happen, they’ll have to stop Steeler running back Jerome “The Bus” Bettis. “He’s good, real good,” says Packer defensive end Reggie White, who sacked Steve Young three times last week to bring his season total to 11. “He’s big and strong and he hits the hole well. . . . In order to stop the Bus, we have to get on the Bus.” The Bus stalled last week, rushing for only 26 yards in a 41-31 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals--his worst game as a Steeler. The Steelers, though, have mostly been hurt by the inconsistent play of Kordell Stewart, whose quarterback rating of 58.5 is among the league’s worst. He’ll start tonight despite being pulled from last week’s game in favor of Mike Tomczak, who passed for two touchdowns and two two-point conversions in the last 10 1/2 minutes. Stewart has had 10 passes intercepted while passing for six touchdowns, but his disappointing performance doesn’t seem to have hurt his confidence. “In due time, I’ll be pretty flawless,” he says. “It’s just important how I handle the situation. I’m not putting pressure on myself. I will go out this week and I will have a good game.”
