Westlake def. Torrance, 15-11, 15-12, 9-15, 16-14-- Freshman Katie Melody served five consecutive points in the fourth game to help the Warriors overcome a 14-11 deficit and win a Division II-AA first-round match at Westlake.

Lauren Mills had 15 kills and Stacey Lee had 12 for the Warriors (16-3), defending division champions.

Calabasas def. Alemany, 15-9, 15-5, 15-11--Brooke Niles had 15 kills, Carina Nusinov added 13 kills and Sarah Postler finished with 40 assists and the Coyotes (19-0) won a Division III-AA first-round match at Calabasas.

La Reina def. Morro Bay, 15-9, 15-9, 15-9--Lacy Ertel had four of 10 aces that helped the Regents win a Division IV-AA first-round match at La Reina. Jennifer Ryan served 11 points and had 13 kills for La Reina (19-0).

Paraclete def. Big Bear, 15-4, 9-15, 15-9, 12-15, 15-8--Christine Lambert had 18 kills and Erika Hernandez added 30 digs, and the Spirits (15-2) won a Division IV-AA first-round match at Paraclete.

Poly def. Chatsworth, 15-12, 15-8, 15-6--Gaby Gallardo had a .360 hitting percentage with 11 kills and two errors in 21 attempts for the Parrots (14-1) in a City Championship quarterfinal victory at Poly.

Narbonne def. Sylmar, 10-15, 12-15, 15-3, 15-10, 15-11--Junior Kassandra Jimenez had 15 kills and five blocks but the Spartans lost in a City Championship quarterfinal match at Sylmar.

No. 3-seeded Sylmar (13-2) had its five-match winning streak snapped.

Taft def. Foshay, 15-13, 15-8, 15-4--Trisha Bratford had a .385 hitting percentage with 14 kills for the Toreadors in a Division Championship quarterfinal victory at Taft.

Bratford had four aces and four blocks and Karen Hill contributed 12 assists for Taft, which trailed, 13-5, in the first game.
