OCC Wins Chaffey Basketball Tournament

Ani Saraydarian scored 13 points and Erin Tomlinson scored 15 to help Orange Coast defeat host Chaffey, 74-51, in the championship game of the Chaffey women’s basketball tournament Sunday.

Saraydarian was selected as the tournament’s most valuable player and Tomlinson and teammate Natalie Weeks, who had nine points, also earned all-tournament honors for OCC (3-0).

Sarah Middlebrooke had nine points and seven blocked shots for the Pirates, who led at halftime, 38-14.

At the Los Angeles Trade Tech tournament:

Santa Ana 88, San Bernardino Valley 83--Tournament MVP Rochelle Anthony had 40 points and 15 rebounds to lead Santa Ana (3-0) in the final. All-tournament selection Karen Herco had 11 assists and nine steals and teammate Stephanie Patten scored 20 points for Santa Ana.

In consolation games at the Mt. San Antonio men’s tournament:

Fullerton 77, Riverside 76--Lawrence Felder had 17 points and 11 rebounds and Reshaun Thomas also had 17 points, including four three-pointers for the Hornets (1-2).

Jerry McNair scored 14 points and Karl Gregory added 11 points and nine assists for Fullerton.

Don Crowden had 27 points and 12 rebounds for Riverside (1-2).

Yavapai (Ariz.) 59, Cypress 37--Ryan Tenpas had 10 points and eight rebounds for Cypress (1-2), which trailed, 30-17, at halftime.

In the Saddleback tournament:

Southwestern 73, Saddleback 62--Vernon Jackson scored 21 points for Saddleback (1-2) in the third-place game.

Chaffey won the tournament with a 69-57 victory over Santa Barbara.
