Sciarra Rallies St. Francis to Victory Over Chaminade

Sophomore quarterback John Sciarra completed all five of his passes in the second half for 95 yards and a touchdown, helping St. Francis High rally from a nine-point halftime deficit for a 27-12 nonleague victory Friday night over Chaminade at St. Francis.
Sciarra finished with 200 yards passing, completing 11 of 17. His 36-yard touchdown throw to tight end Tyler Terrazone gave St. Francis a 20-12 lead midway through the fourth quarter.
After a Chaminade punt, St. Francis (4-2) put the game away with a 12-play, 54-yard drive capped by Murice Law’s one-yard touchdown run with 18 seconds to play.
The Golden Knights, who outscored Chaminade, 24-0, in the second half, forced four turnovers. Linebacker Dartanio Cathirell had an interception and a fumble recovery to help St. Francis limit the Eagles to 216 yards.
Dennis O’Brien’s 36-yard field goal on the final play of the third quarter gave St. Francis the lead for good, 13-12.
Chaminade quarterback Eric Zdenek completed 12 of 22 passes for 141 yards and a touchdown, but he had three passes intercepted.
The Eagles built a 12-3 halftime lead on a 23-yard scoring pass from Zdenek to wide receiver Chris Canoles in the first quarter and a seven-yard touchdown run by Lee Grassini early in the second quarter.
Canoles had seven receptions for 107 yards.
