3 Youths Named 4-H Program All-Stars

After a summer of serving their community, three lucky teens became all-stars.

Ginny Gunnels, 16, of Camarillo, Danielle Holm, 17, of Somis and Cristen Ferguson, 15, of Ventura will all serve one term as Ventura County 4-H Youth Development Program All-Stars for their outstanding job as role models in the community.

The criteria for the 4-H Youth award are based not only on the youths' character, but their effect on younger members in the club.

Ginny, who attends Rio Mesa High School, in addition to her church work, is interested in sewing and floriculture.

A junior at Ventura High School, Cristen serves on the Ventura County Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Commission.

Danielle received her all-star designation for her many years of community volunteer work.

The Loma Vista 4-H Club also received recognition for its contribution to the community by being awarded second place in a statewide community service grant.

The group received $750 for its work in tobacco awareness and prevention programs.
