Authorities still have not released the identity of a man killed Sunday by San Gabriel Police after he fired on officers.

The Los Angeles County coroner’s office said it is still trying to reach his relatives.

Meanwhile, the county Sheriff’s Department has launched an investigation into the incident that occurred shortly after 2 p.m. when officers responded to a call about a man with a gun in a yard in the 200 block of Saxon Avenue. The probe is standard procedure for such shootings.

When police arrived, the man pulled the gun from his waistband and began firing at officers, authorities said.
