Chuck Miller, who led Sylmar to the City Section playoffs every season in 11 years as coach, has resigned to take a position as student dean at the school.

“This was a tough one,” said the 47-year-old Miller. “It’s something I’ve tossed around since the opening came up. I’m going to miss my girls.”

Isaac Ramirez, a 6-foot-3, 300-pound sophomore lineman from Sacramento’s Grant High, has transferred to Taft.

Former Taft offensive lineman Carlos Meza has been declared ineligible for one year from playing junior college competition with any school other than Pierce College after practicing one day with Pierce, then practicing with Valley College. He has decided to sit out the year at Valley, according to Monarch Athletic Director Chuck Ferrero.

Tom Racius, former quarterback for Valley College and Chaminade High, has given up his scholarship to Hawaii and returned to Southern California, his father said. He will not play this season.
