A second man filed criminal assault charges against Mike Tyson on Thursday in Washington, saying the former heavyweight champion struck him in the face in the wake of a minor traffic accident in Maryland.

Abmielec Saucedo, 62, said Tyson punched him in the face “without warning” as Saucedo talked with another driver after the accident at Gaithersburg, Md., on Monday.

Saucedo’s car struck a car driven by Richard Hardick, which then struck a car driven by Tyson’s wife.

Hardick, 50, filed a similar complaint against Tyson on Wednesday, saying Tyson had kicked him in the groin.

Tyson, 32, has denied the allegations.

“My wife and I were the victims of a traffic accident,” Tyson said in a statement released Wednesday through his lawyer, John G. Branca. “I am distressed by these false allegations. I did not touch anyone.”

His wife backed up his story, saying, “Mike did not punch, kick or touch anyone at any time.”

Former heavyweight champion Michael Dokes remained jailed in Las Vegas after a judge rejected his bid for bail on an attempted-murder charge in the beating of his fiancee.

Justice Court Judge Nancy Osterle turned down a request for bail by a defense attorney who argued that a weapon wasn’t used in the alleged assault.

“The defendant is a former boxer, so in my opinion his hands are a deadly weapon,” Osterle said. “He used those hands to beat this woman, so no bail is warranted.”

Doug Zmolek became the first victim of the Kings’ glut of defenseman when they traded him to the Chicago Blackhawks for a third-round choice in the 1999 NHL entry draft.

“We . . . have a solid group of talented defensemen, especially with acquisitions of Steve Duchesne and Doug Bodger over the summer, and this trade allows Doug to go to a team where he can really contribute,” said Dave Taylor, the club’s vice president and general manager.

Zmolek played in 46 games last season, failing to score and earning eight assists and 111 penalty minutes.

He also has played for San Jose and Dallas.

Philadelphia Flyer captain Eric Lindros said the biggest obstacle preventing him from signing a long-term contract isn’t money, but getting assurance that the team won’t trade him.

With the start of training camp eight days away, Lindros said he wants to stay in Philadelphia.

“For me it’s pretty simple,” said Lindros, 25, who is eligible to become a restricted free agent after the upcoming season. “I want to stay here, play here and win here. As far as the money, it’s a non-issue. Money is the easiest thing to work out.”
