Knee Injury for Davenport in North Carolina Loss
John Scott kicked a 37-yard field goal with one second left Saturday night as Miami of Ohio upset No. 12 North Carolina, 13-10, in a game in which Tar Heel starting quarterback Oscar Davenport injured his left knee.
North Carolina, coming off an 11-1 season, went all but four plays with freshman quarterback Ronald Curry after losing Davenport 2 1/2 minutes into the game.
School officials said Davenport could have arthroscopic surgery today. He injured the same knee in 1995, and suffered a broken ankle last season against Florida State.
Curry, the 1997 national prep player of the year, was 11-of-22 passing for 115 yards and one touchdown.
