Senior Sean Myrill rushed for 108 yards and scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns to lead Dana Hills to a convincing 27-7 nonleague victory over El Toro Friday at Dana Hills.

The Dolphins (1-0) led, 13-7, after the first quarter, then put the ball into the hands of their running backs, who combined for 240 yards.

Myrill gained 75 of his yards in the second half as the Dolphins wore down the Chargers (0-1) behind the blocking of linemen Mike Mortensen, Casey O’Brien, Kevin Wayland, Tom Kazarian, Ray DiGiacomo and tight end Jeff Bates.

Jovan Alarcon added 49 yards rushing for Dana Hills and quarterback Jeremy Walker chipped in 73, including a 20-yard first-quarter touchdown, before injuring his left knee during a run in the second quarter.

Walker, a senior, was replaced by junior Joe Murray, who played the remainder of the game and passed for 76 yards with several key completions.

The Chargers were counting on several running backs to replace starter Larry Johnson, out with a hamstring injury. But El Toro gained just 74 yards on the ground and could not get any momentum going after taking a 7-0 lead in the first quarter on a four-yard run by Ryan Switzer.

Dana Hills tied the score when Walker ran in untouched, then took the lead for good on a 30-yard pass from Walker to Nate Pilmer.

Myrill’s fourth-quarter scoring runs of eight and 32 yards, the latter with 2:03 remaining, sealed the victory for the Dolphins.

Dana Hills sacked El Toro quarterback Mike Strand five times. Strand, a senior and returning starter, completed 14 of 24 passes for 91 yards.
