Glendale 31, Victor Valley 27--Chris Branden intercepted a pass at the goal line with 14 seconds left to preserve the Vaqueros’ victory at Glendale High.
Darrell Durham rushed 23 times for 186 yards and two touchdowns, including a game-winning three-yard run with 4:11 remaining that capped a nine-play, 80-yard drive.
Glendale quarterback Michael Frost completed 11 of 20 passes for 210 yards and two touchdowns, including a 37-yard strike to Chad Heydorff that tied the score, 7-7, early in the second quarter.
Tommy Lee caught four passes for 42 yards, including a 22-yard touchdown from Frost that gave Glendale a 21-7 lead with a minute left in the first half.
Victor Valley took a 27-24 lead midway through the fourth quarter with touchdowns on a 74-yard punt return by Marlyndi McNeal and a 44-yard interception return by Kashan Griffin.
Victor Valley quarterback Steven Hrin completed 11 of 27 passes for 181 yards, including touchdowns of 33 and 19 yards.
