Former Hart High quarterback David Neill, a freshman at Nevada, will be the team’s starting quarterback for next week’s game against Fresno State.

Neill entered the game last Saturday against Colorado State with 29 seconds left in the second quarter and ended up completing 16 of 29 pass attempts for 155 yards and one touchdown in a 26-14 loss to the Rams. Neill threw two interceptions.

“It was a shock,” Neill said. “They went through the first two quarterbacks and the coach pointed toward me [saying], ‘You’re going in.’ ”
