7 TONIGHT HUNTINGTON BEACH HIGH
Westminster, which returns 15 starters, is off to its best start in three seasons. “This [game] will be a big step up for us,” second-year Coach Ted McMillen said. “We’ll see what we’re made of.” Running backs Maurice Cureton and Mike Cope have combined to rush for 312 yards. Edison has a running attack that is more one dimensional but every bit as explosive; tailback Darin Pope has rushed for 410 yards. Quarterbacks Kelly Coburn of Westminster (60.5% completion rate) and Jason Kripavicius of Edison (50%) can turn this into an passing duel if they have to.
