Cori Herbert, a junior pitcher for Hoover High, struck out all 15 batters she faced Tuesday en route to a five-inning perfect game in the Tornadoes’ 17-0 victory over host Muir in a Pacific League game.

Herbert had two hits and two runs batted in for Hoover (10-4, 2-1 in league play), which finished with 17 hits. Ivette Martinez and Evelyn Crowder each had two hits.

Herbert’s pitching prompted Coach Kirt Kohlmeier to compare her to two former Hoover pitching standouts.
