Taft 7, Birmingham 6--K.C. Bounds’ three-run triple highlighted a seven-run first inning in a West Valley League game at Taft.

Justin and Josh Wade each had doubles for Taft (5-14, 1-9).

Poly 14, North Hollywood 6--The Parrots sent 14 batters to the plate in the sixth inning and scored 11 runs, rallying from a 6-3 deficit in an East Valley League game at Poly.

Only three of the Parrots’ runs in the sixth were earned because North Hollywood (5-16, 3-6) committed four errors.

Manny Flores had three hits and three runs batted in, and Juan Guerrero had two hits and two RBIs for Poly (17-5, 10-0).

Grant 9, Sylmar 2--Mike Marble (5-1) threw a four-hitter with six strikeouts and had two hits and four RBIs for the Lancers (15-4, 9-1) in an East Valley League game at Sylmar (13-5, 7-2).

Felipe Tetelboin singled, doubled and drove in three runs for Grant, which remained a game behind Poly for first place.

Reseda 10, Van Nuys 9--Chris Coleman drove in five runs with two hits, including a grand slam, for Reseda (9-10, 3-6) in a Mid-Valley League game at Van Nuys Sherman Oaks Park.

Jesus Rico had three hits, including two doubles, for Van Nuys (3-11, 1-8), which scored three runs in the seventh but stranded the tying run at third base.

Cleveland 8, San Fernando 7--The Cavaliers scored four runs in the third and fourth innings to rally from a 5-4 deficit in a North Valley League game at San Fernando.

Alex Legarreta had a two-run single in the first and Francisco Enriquez had a two-run double in the second for Cleveland (5-5 in league play), but San Fernando (4-15, 3-7) took the lead with four runs in the second.

La Canada 12, Blair 1--Chris Horne had three hits, including a double, and two RBIs for host La Canada (5-8-1, 4-4-1) in a Rio Hondo League game that was called after five innings because of the 10-run rule.

Steve Bell had two hits, including a triple, and two RBIs, and Adam Porte had two hits, including a double, and scored two runs for the Spartans.
