Amritraj Pulls Right Strings

Sophomore Prakash Amritraj of Harvard-Westlake High upset highly regarded Zoran Korak of San Marino on Monday, helping the Wolverines defeat the reigning Southern Section Division IV champions, 10-7, in a nonleague match at Studio City Golf and Tennis.

Korak, who won the section singles championship at the Ojai Valley tennis tournament on Saturday, lost to Amritraj, 6-4.

Harvard-Westlake (13-2) lost to San Marino, 11-7, on April 15.

SOFTBALL

Agoura 4, Moorpark 3--Meredith Petit’s two-run double in the 10th inning scored the winning run, giving host Agoura (6-8, 1-6 in league) its first Marmonte League victory.

Moorpark (7-9, 0-7) broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in the 10th.

Kelly Havel had three hits for Agoura.

El Camino Real 31, Birmingham 0--Stephanie Frasco pitched a perfect game and hit two home runs in a West Valley League game at El Camino Real (14-2, 6-0) called in the fifth inning because of the 10-run rule.

Frasco (6-0) hit a grand slam and a three-run home run in a 21-run second inning.

Chatsworth 13, Taft 5--Cassie Shires and Jackie Casado each had two hits and two RBIs for Chatsworth (12-6, 7-2) in West Valley League game at Woodland Hills Park.

San Fernando 5, Granada Hills 2--Sunshine Gallardo had two doubles and four runs batted in in a North Valley League game at San Fernando (16-4, 5-2).

Kennedy 18, Cleveland 1--Monique Acedo five hits, including two doubles and a triple, and drove in six runs in a North Valley League game at Brand Park.

Angie De La Cerda had two hits and four RBIs for Kennedy (15-2, 7-1).

Cornerstone Christian 8, Malibu 0--Julie Hartnell allowed one hit and struck out eight for the Eagles (12-4) in a nonleague game at Freedom Park in Camarillo.

Shannon Brown had a home run and a triple.

Oak Park 9, Louisville 2--Melissa Johnson gave up three hits and struck out four for host Oak Park (12-3-1) in a nonleague game at Valley View Park.

Oak Park got three hits apiece from Michelle Bregar and Cindy Verity.

SWIMMING

EAST VALLEY LEAGUE FINALS--Eight Granada Hills swimmers qualified in the meet at Valley College for the City Section preliminaries on May 12.

The boys’ qualifiers were Tyler Clark (200 individual medley, 500 freestyle), William Chae (50and 100 free) and Alex Viray (200 medley, 500 free).

The girls’ qualifiers were Katherine Nielson(100 butterfly, 100 backstroke), Jennifer Parmenter (200 medley, 500 free), Sarah Clark (100 breaststroke, 100 butterfly), Nicolette Viray (200 medley, 100 butterfly) and Claudette Viray (200 free, 500 free).

Granada Hills qualified in the girls’ 200 medley relay.

BOYS’ GOLF

Notre Dame 209, Loyola 213--The Knights (10-4, 7-2) won a Mission League match at Lakeside Country Club, but Loyola (13-3, 7-2) has protested a player’s disqualification.
